In addition to saving you a lot of money, timely vehicle inspections and proper replacements can help prevent collisions that could endanger both your life and the lives of other drivers. The next post will walk you through the process of swiftly and easily replacing and installing brake pads.

Before moving straight to the pads removal procedure, let’s take a close look at a few crucial items below.

Are my brake pads expired?

You should be alert for many indications that your pads may be past their expiration date. Here are a few of the most typical symptoms to help you identify the failure in time:

  1. Metallic Noises: If you hear metallic noises as you brake, something might be broken. One of the primary and most common signs of failure is this.
  2. Vibrations in the brake pedal: If your pedal shakes when you step on the brakes, this could be another cause for concern.
  3. Increased stopping distance: If you hit the brakes and the car stops farther than it usually would (the car usually stops instantly), there probably is a problem with the brake system.
  4. Low quality in braking capability of your car is a glaring indication that the brake pads are worn out or have expired. This happens when the car doesn’t brake consistently.

Tools you will need

You must have the following equipment in order to remove and install the brake pads on your 2014 Chevrolet Cruze 2.0L model correctly. In case you are unsure, we will additionally explain what each one is for:

Use a lug nut wrench to tighten or loosen the nuts on your car’s wheels.

Pliers: used to grip and twist parts, like springs and brake pad pins.

Allen key: ideal for loosening the pad fixing bolts.

A hydraulic jack is required in order to elevate your Chevrolet Cruze and facilitate easier wheel removal.

Chocks: These are crucial components that hold the car in place when the jack raises it.

To proceed with the full process, it is imperative that you have each of these tools on hand at home or in your garage. If you don’t have them or you’re unsure about how to fix and install the brake pads on this model, we suggest speaking with mechanical engineers—like us—at Broward-based services who specialize in brake repair.

We will help you with the process if you would want to proceed alone. The procedure for changing your brake pads’ front disc is outlined below.
